About the Herbs & Oils shelf
Loose herbs are sold here the way they were sold a century ago, by the ounce and by name: mugwort, vervain, wormwood, yarrow, rue, rosemary, bay, and the resins that go on charcoal. They come in sealed bags and are meant for dressing candles, filling sachets, burning, and steeping into washes. None of it is packaged as food, and none of it should be treated as medicine.
Beside the herbs are the finished preparations that save an evening's work: anointing oils in dram bottles, ritual salts, bath blends, and charm bags already tied. We list the botanical name where the common one is ambiguous, because there are several plants called sage and only one of them is the one you meant.
Keep herbs dry and out of the sun. Most lose their scent inside a year, which is a reasonable pace to use them.
